Since 2022, I’ve been riding solo across countries (or regions) for about 40 days at a time. My process is simple: I fly in with my bicycle in a box, reassemble at the terminal and pedal away with no route, no hotels, and only as much stuff as I can fit in my panniers (about 15kg).
I don't have a predefined itinerary, though I do have a broad direction; where I go on a given day depends on local advice, the food, the weather and my desperate attempts to avoid hills. I book hotel stays at the last minute, usually around 3pm by which time I'm fairly certain of where I can get to before sunset.
While I’m too busy pedaling to blog, you can track my trips on Instagram, YouTube, and Strava. For the true data nerds, my Komoot feed usually has the most granular details.
I’ve turned these trips into photobooks; the Italy one is print-only for now but thanks to some AI magic the rest are available here in digital form.
